Day 6th - 12th September

Another big day for us all. The students have had such a great experience and have now seen a lot of variation in Korea from city to mountainous countryside. Today they we were taken to the a Jikji museum where we learned about the history behind the first metal printing press and also the process. It was fantastic and everyone had the opportunity to try printing something on Jikji paper. After that we returned to the bus and headed for the craft exhibition. This was such a big place and probably needed a longer explore but I think we got to see most of the works of art and we were also treated to a magic show- great fun. After a full restaurant lunch we headed into the mountains and walk a full nine km round trip to view two Buddhist temples. They were inspiring but we were all tired when we got back. Even so several children were going to head for a night out with their home stays. Everyone was happy and excited to be socialising and we were able to meet up with some of the students who visited us in NZ in February. They said they loved their visit to New Zealand and that they thought the Farm Cove Intermediate students were really friendly. They would really like to come back again.
Not quite so many photos today as too busy trying to climb the mountain but we hope you still enjoy the few we have.

Ready and rearing to go

Outside the Jikji printing press

Be sure to get your children to talk through these photos especially with you when they get home.

Everywhere you go they have lots of people cleaning the streets and gardens. There are not many bins around and yet the streets are relatively clear of rubbish.

There are a lot of ideas here for future wearable arts

Time to climb. The scenery was truly spectacular.
